Last Day in Puglia
Hi Wee Yin. We will be home tomorrow, I saw your aunty and uncle took you on a day trip yesterday, I’m sure you would have had a good time. Well after filling up with diesel we decided to explore the seaside towns close by. First, we headed south. We stopped at a place called Santa Cesarea Terme.
There was not a lot to do here, I think you would have to stay in the posh hotel. At least your mum managed to get a nice ice cream. The road side advertising was not entirely good at tempting people into the bars.
After we drove to Castro, Castro is in two parts. The old part is on top of a hill, very difficult to get parked but nicer than Santa Cesarea Terme. The new part Castro Marina was down by the sea. On hind site we should have stopped for a bite to eat here. Off again we headed north back towards Otranto. We stopped at Porto Badisco hoping to grab a bite. The Bar Alimentari Tabacchi da Carlo looked like the best bet, the food looked great, unfortunately it was very busy and way to complicated to get food or a table!
We ended up grabbing some sandwiches while hunting out some of the areas best beaches. The guide book recommended seeing the Sant Andrea Sea Stacks. When we got there I met some Italian scooterests. The had really nice vespas, lucky boys.
The sea stacks were pretty enough but no beach.
Back on the road we stopped off at a few beaches before exploring the bay of Turks. To get to it you have to go through a large pine wood. Luckily the people put up markers to follow down to the sea. The resort was shut for the season but I could see why it would be popular, you would love it.
Time to get back to Bari and the airplane home. We grabbed a McDonalds in Monopoli, bazar that your Mum is coming back here in two weeks time with her pals. The final test was taking the car back. Well I tell you, it was not as simple as it sounds. Could we find the place? When we did eventually find it, the yard was full. Thankfully the hire firm was using our car to take us to the airport.
Sitting here using the airport wifi, I’ll sign off. See you tomorrow Tink, missing you.
