Good times in Gozo

Good times in Gozo

We got picked up at the jetty by a Bolt taxi to take us to the airport. Here we picked up a hire car for our trip to Gozo and back. We visited Rabat to see the catacombs, they were ok seen much better. Then we went to Madina. Well we would have been better walking, the iphone took us out of Rabat, down a steep hill before taking us on a wild goose chase up dirt paths to the outside of Madina. Eventually we found a way in. It was nice would have loved to have spent more time there but we had a ferry to catch.

Mum had a disaster on the ferry. A pastizzi that had spent too long on the hot plate and was particularly hard chipped one of her teeth. Shame because it was tasty. When we landed we headed to our accommodation to unload the car. By the time we settled in it was dark so we headed into town for dinner.

It was bright the next morning so we decided to explore Victoria. We climbed the hill to reach the city centre, crossing the square where we ate last night.

At the top of the city is the citadel. Due to touch of fate, the workers were on holiday, we got in for free. While walking the walls a gust of wind blew my hat clean off my head. To get it back I had to climb a big fence. Good job the workers were on holiday.

In the afternoon we went for a tour of the island looking for a place to go swimming. After a few false starts we wandered down to Wied il-Għasri. It was a great place to snorkel.

Another day other sights to see. In the morning we walked to a seaside village called Xlendi. It was not much to look at but we got a great fry up at St Patricks Hotel.

Xlendi Bay

After breakfast we explored the rest of the village and came across some of its strange inhabitants.

After walking back to the pad we got ready to explore. We did a bit of sightseeing before heading to the coast to find somewhere to swim. One of the places was Xwejni Bay. Hear there were hundreds of salt pans.

We took the wee citron to a place called Daħlet Qorrot. This is where the locals come to swim. The water was warm and easy to swim.

When we got back mum booked a boat trip for our last full day, The trip started at the harbour at Xlendi and went to the island of Comino. It was pleasant enough stopping at the Cristal Cove and Blue Lagoon for swim stops.
