Lytham St Annes and Boness
We are moving on today. To my surprise when I woke up Mr Sun was out to play. Before we went, I thought it only right to see Blackpool when it was dry. Off to the beach then? The beach was great, miles and miles of it. After a game of chaises it was time to go back to Betsy.
Betsy fired into life and soon was trundling along beside the sand dunes. Where we off too? “Lytham St Annes Poppysocks” said Mum. Mmmmm another new place, ok then. When we got there Betsy found a great place to rest. Right on the front next to a pier. We all bailed out and headed to the pier. This was a strange pier. To start with to get to the pier you have to walk through an amusement arcade. When you do get there it’s quite small and it’s not over water. So how do the boats park then?
The pier did give a good view of the beach though and what a beach it was. I looked out at the naughty boys in their orange bibs cleaning the sand when dad said, “Nice beach but you aren’t allowed on it Poppy”. What!? So the naughty boys are allowed on it but Poppys are banned?
We headed back off the pier and back into the amusement arcade. I have no Idea why they are called amusement arcades, noisy and don’t look like much fun to me.
A quick once around the town convinced Mum and Dad two things. One, it was much posher than Blackpool and two, no way Betsy would fit in the Aldi underground car park. OK then back to Blackpool for a supplies shop.
The car park in Blackpool was mobbed but Betsy managed to find a spot (well 3 spots) next to an old mini. When Dad got back from Aldi he was talking to the owner of the Mini. She was Scottish and was glad he came back because Betsy is big and she wouldn’t be able see to get her mini out of its spot.
Supplied up we were off again. I went for a wee snooze on mums lap and woke up when Betsy came off the big road. The woman in mums phone was annoying Dad. She kept on telling Betsy to go down smaller and smaller roads. Betsy is big, and she doesn’t like tiny wee roads. Eventually we got to a place called Boness.
Boness was full of foreign tourists, mostly from China and Asia. We stopped at a place The Alpine Café for lunch. I say lunch but it was more a breakfast. Bacon, egg, sausage, beans and toast. Fully fed we went off to explore.
The lakeside and main streets were very busy so we decided to explore the back streets of the village.
The village was very nice, bigger than Pooley Bridge where we staid this time last year. It was nice to sniff about the place last year I wasn’t well and got pushed about in a buggy. All in all I liked Boness. Not the lakeside, there are a lot nicer lakesides nearby but the village was quite pretty. Time to move on and get back to Betsy.
We got into our new camp at a place called Skelwith Fold.
