Poppy goes to Bacharach
Betsy was up early today and the first thing she did was get a big drink of cheap Austrian Deisel. We didn’t want what happened last year! She pulled out of Ehrwald and made her way down the mountains to Germany. Once on the autobahns she got into her stride and rolled on and on and on.
As she got to Stuttgart the voice in the phone was at it again. It decided we should do a mini city tour. Dad was unimpressed, Dad? Why do you let Betsy listen to that thing? First it was a mini tour of Munich then it was lets leave the motorway to go to a retail park now this?
Betsy finally escaped from Stuttgart and was making her way up the Rhine. Betsy got another big drink just before we came into Camping Sonnenstrand in Bacharach. As we were pulling in Dad seemed confused. “We have been here before” he said. Mmmmmm don’t remember dad.
Betsy got a nice place to rest by the river so we set up camp.
It was nice to relax for a bit after the long drive. I sat in the sun then came back to the shade when I got too warm. We just spent the afternoon lazing about watching the river boats go up and down the river.
The view from camp was quite nice too. Across the river was a small town called Lorch, occasionally a big train would roll through it. There was always something to look at. The local peoplesees took to going out on kayaks and we could here them splashing by.
We were going out to dinner very local tonight, mum saw a wee place called Joschs Rheinblick as we came into camp. “That will do for tonight” she said. Yeah it will I thought. Well dad was obvious in his choice for dinner. We are in Germany so that means currywurst.
As we were getting ready to leave all the kayakers came in for a wee party after their paddle on the river. Mmmm time to go
