Poppy bags Eigg
Well, as The Sheerwater headed to sea Mr Sun was out to play and it was nice and warm. It didn’t last. As soon as we were in open water all hell broke loose. The boat was jumping in the air and crashing back down on the sea. The sky was bawling her eyes out and I was totally drooket. Dad moved us inside because I was shivering, It wasn’t the cold, I was terrified. Dry land couldn’t come quick enough and I was off the boat in a shot.
Mum and Dad decided to do a circular walk on the Island. So we headed up through some woods and onto the open moors.
Ater a while Mum was convinced we were lost so we retraced our steps back down the glen and followed a walk to see some caves. The caves were not much to write home about and it was so windy we headed back to port for a picnic.
It was much more sheltered here picnic was good I got a big drink and some hams.
Picnic over Mum spotted a café, she fancied some coffee and cake. Mum loves cake. I wanted to go to the beach, you can have cakes afterwards Mum. We started off to the beach across the bay.
Mum was looking at her watch. “Poppy we wont have enough time to get there and go to the café.” Mmmm OK then we’ll go back and get you some cake. Mum really liked her cake. As it was sunny we played outside at the back of the café.
I had an idea, why not explore the pier. There are always loads of good smells at piers. “OK Poppy but we will have to be quick, we don’t want to miss the boat” said dad. Sorted.
We really couldn’t have hung around lo long because soon we were in the boat and leaving Eigg.
The boat ride back was much better than on the way out. I really didn’t mind it at all. Dad looked worried though. He didn’t like the size of the waves, especially when they were bigger than the Sheerwater.
Tonight we are getting takeaway food from the Thai place in Morar. So what better than spending the rest of the afternoon there. Poppys doesn’t really remember Morar. The last time I was there I was absolutely knackerd. It was a four mile walk to get there, never mind the mountain we had to climb. I’m glad we’re going in Betsy.
The silver sands of Morar are great. Lots to smell, lots to see and perfect sand for ball.
After an hour or two we went to get takeaway. Problem. Mum booked takeaway for half five. It was only five. Dad chanced his arm but was told to come back at the right time. As we waited in Betsy there was a loud TOOOOOOOOOT. Then a lot of smoke. Dad look! It’s the famous steam monster! Grrrrrrrrrrough!
Good job we got takeaway back at camp the weather was foul. Mr Wind was having a blast and the sky was crying her eyes out. Good job we’re inside Betsy.
Luck would have it when it was time for my nighttime patrol things had settled down a bit.
