Poppy Bags Mont Saint-Michel

Poppy Bags Mont Saint-Michel

Granny was having a day off today, lazing around the house, Mr Sun was out, so I concluded she would be perfectly happy in the garden without my supervision for a while. We piled into Blue and set off, with Blue travelling along the big roads for a long, long time before finally pulling into an enormous car park for a rest. Then came some disappointing news: Poppys were not allowed on the bus, but Dad had a solution. When my leg felt sore, he carried me, which was very welcome. I still had no idea where we were or what important thing we had come to see. I looked around and gave the place a proper assessment. Car park. Buses. Peoplesees. No snacks. Hmm. So far, not impressive.

I walked for a bit, then got carried for a bit. Eventually I spotted the island, and I studied it carefully. It was miles away. I looked up at DadyYour arms are going to be sore, Dad. He carried me across a long, long bridge before finally putting me down on the island. I went straight to the sea and dipped my paws in to cool them down, because a smart Poppy knows proper explorers must look after their equipment. Right then. Paws cooled. That’s me ready to explore. Let’s go.

The town was packed with peoplesees, and from my low-level position I could see the real problem, too many legs, all moving in different directions and none of them watching for Poppys. Dad soon worked this out too and picked me up before anyone trod on my paws. At last, we found a quieter spot where I could get back down, stretch my leggys, and inspect the place properly without having to dodge a forest of feet.

More and more peoplesees kept pouring in.  Too busy. Too many feet. Not enough sensible space for Poppys. I looked up at Mum with my firmest expression. I think we should get out of here, Mum. This place is getting far too crowded. “You’re right, Poppy,” said Mum. “Let’s get out of here.” It took ages to get back to the mainland, with more and more peoplesees funnelling onto the island the whole time. I was very glad to be out of there

Blue woke from her rest and carried us back along the coast, passing through one seaside town after another before stopping at Cancale. I noticed straight away that oysters were very popular here. They were everywhere, and the humans seemed impressed. Oysters were not really for Poppys. Fortunately, Dad found a good place called Bella Vista where we could sit down and have something to eat. They sold oysters too, of course, but they also had proper sandwiches. That, in my view was a much better option.

Blue brought us home safely, where the weather was still very pleasant. After considering the options, I decided the most sensible use of the afternoon was to settle myself in the garden and keep a quiet eye on things.
