Getting Back to Blighty
We were up early and away, Blue was quickly on the big French roads and heading north. She was on them for hours and hours and the roads got busier and busier as she got closer to Paris. Dad? I thought you said we weren’t going to Paris. “Were not Poppy, well I hope not”. Blue had to stop to get a big drink of diesel and that gave us a chance to stretch our legs. It was still very hot but it was nice to get a breather.
Back in Blue she was off again as we got closer to Paris she went underground. It was like the tunnels in Italy that go through mountains. When daylight came back the roads started ease, still heading north. Many more hours passed when eventually she pulled off the big roads back onto the wee ones. This is more like it more to see and smell. She finally came to rest at a small house in a village called Montreuil-sur-Mer.
I was out in a flash, I wanted to see where would be home for the night. Mum opened the door and after a quick inspection I jumped onto the bed. Sniff sniff sniff sniff. Now this is very weird, Mum they have got a hot tub……..inside?!
Time to explore outside. Granny had the house next door I thought I better pay her a visit. After saying hi to Granny the garden needed my full attention. Poppys are always very careful when staying in a new place. Its important to make sure every smell is investigated properly.
It was getting late and we still had the task of getting something to eat. It had been a long day. We picked up granny and headed into the village. It wasn’t long before we were in Montreuil-sur-Mer proper. I stumbled across a wee place called Froggy’s. This will do. We all hade a great meal but we were all very weary from the journey. Tummies full we headed back to our new houses for sleeps.
Today the sun could not decide if he wanted to come out to play or stay in his cloudy bed. It was market day in Montreuil-sur-Mer, and as we didn’t have to get to the ferry by three we might as well explore. Blue all packed up she found a good spot to rest in the village centre. The market was ok, not as big as the one in Amboice but still ok. The police here ride about on horses. Mmmm not sure about that one.
We decided to walk about the place we had time to kill before going to the ferry. The village was very nice but my favourite part was the ramparts. I got off leash which gave me plenty of space to explore properly.
It had just turned noon and it was time to get back to Blue. She soon made her way through the wee tiny roads and on to the big one heading for the ferry’s. My paperwork the nasty vet gave me got me onto the boat and soon I was relaxed in the pet lounge heading to Blighty. I recognised the white cliffs from a few weeks ago soon we would be back in Englandshire and heading home to Scotland. Bye bye Europa see you next year.
