Postcard From Malta

Hi wee yin, got here late Thursday night, we are staying on a yacht in the grand marina at Birgu. You would like it but not the steps to get on deck. The deck has excellent views of Valletta. On the first real day we got a wee boat to take us to Valletta. Well Poppy Valletta is bigger than Glasgow and it was very busy. To get into the old city you have to pass through a big gate.

The city was packed full of tourists off the cruise ships. The view from the top back to Birgu and our boat was nice though.

To escape the tourists, we found a nice we lane to have a few cool drinks before getting the wee boat back to Birgu.

Well, you know how mum and dad love the daft juice of an evening, we decided to hunt down a supermarket. Before that we went to a local bar and had some iced coffee, delicious. The trek to the supermarket was hard going when we got back, we stopped at Jeffs Pastizzeria for some pastizzi to give us sustenance. Pastizzi are wee flaky pies a bit like a bridie but only cost 60c, so we had two each. After we lugged the shopping back to the marina.

We had dinner just across from the boat at Sottovento, really good pizza, and after chilled on the boat.

By now, no matter what I did I was being eaten alive by mossys. I had over 30 bites. So I sprayed the boat before heading out to the shower block. On the way backMum was up on deck getting Breakfast together before our next day out. Can you spot her Poppy?

We went to explore Senglea, It is just across the water from the boat so we were there in no time. It’s much more of a place to live rather than visit. We went to see the gardens to see if you would like it. Out side was an old woman selling hats. I bought one, you know I can never have too many hats in our Scottish winters. Gardjola Gardens were a bit small for you but they had nice enough views over the city.

We plodded back to Birgu and started to explore our neighbourhood.

After a stop for a coffee in a nice Polish Café, we crossed the square to Champ Pastizzeria for some tasty treats for Lunch. Fed and watered we wondered the back streets of Birgu.

It’s our last night so we had dinner up at the square. It was really nice. After we wondered back down to the Marina and our boat and spent the rest of the evening on deck. We are heading to Gozo tomorrow send you an update from there.

Wish you were here.
