Popppy’s Highland Fling
It’s not been a good time for Poppys. Every walk I have to wear horrible equafleece. After every walk I have to get rubbed down with nasty Doggy Bag. Poppys hates this cold, wet, windy nasty weather. It’s not just Poppys. Dad gets very angry when bad weather girl talks about mythical sunshine and warm weather as we look out the window at gale powered rain. Why she says it’s sunny I asked Dad. “It’s because the only part of the UK that she cares about is the inside the M25” said Dad. Mmmmmm why don’t we go there? “It’s too far away Poppy”. “Never mind wee yin how about we go up north this weekend, sound good?” he said. Anything is better than this Dad. I was over the moon when we all piled into Betsy and were offski.
Betsy purred along the big roads, until just past Stirling where she pulled off towards Callender. Mmmm not been there for years. She didn’t stop in Callender though, she trundled straight through. OK then, so where are we going then? She never said just kept on rolling along a road I have never been on before. After a while she pulled off and went down a tiny wee road to a village called Killin. When she got there she had to stop at a bridge in the middle of the village because it was so wee that we had to take shots each to cross. I didn’t care. The Mr Sun was out to play, so is this where you have been hiding Mr Sun? Betsy soon trundled into camp and settled herself in for the stay.
We left Betsy and set off to explore the camp. It was great being outside with no Equafleece and Mr Sun beaming down on us.
After a quick once round camp we strolled towards the river that ran right through the camp. Dad said it was called The River Lochay. On the other side there were little boats all tied up and a very strange building right on the river. Dad its like your shed only on the river.
Din Dins Time? After din dins we sat around watiching the telly box. When nighttime patrol came I was happy to go out and explore in the darkness. Lots of smells and no cold nasty wet. As we went along the river the strange building on the other side was all lit up and they had a big fire. Sounds like they have got lots of daft juice, no? Back at Betsy it was nice and warm, time to courie into Dad for the night.
