Exploring Bacharach
Since we have been here before and not really seen the place today we are going into the town. To get there we walked along side the river. There were a lot of geese, big smelly things that poo everywhere.
Further along the riverside I found a path. Look mum this will take us to town, pathfinder Poppy is on the case.
To get into the town we had to go under the railway and through an old gate house.
As soon as I got into the town I knew I was back in the Rhineland, it was like Boppard in miniature.
OK now we are here let’s explore.
Look what I have found Dad a poppy sized street.
We wandered around the town all the way to the last gate.
Next up was a walk to the castle. It was hot and we gave up half way there. Back down we go then.
As we were going back into the centre of town I found a set of steps. I gave Mum a look, “OK Poppy, we will go up to the cathedral”,she said. Yeah! Poppys loves steps. The cathedral was a little worse for ware but the views were good and it had lots of great smells.
Back down in town Mum was on a mission to find a place to eat tonight. First we tried down Koblenzer Strassa no joy, the only place we found did not take cards.
Then we tried Oberstrab, places either never took cards or closed early. Eventually we got a booking at Posthof Bacharach.
We headed back to Betsy and on the way there Dad bought her a new sticker.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at camp. An nice way to end the holiday. Sitting in the sun and watching the river life come and go.
When we entered Posthof Bacharach for dinner the one thing I noticed was the cathedral we visited in the afternoon. It was huge from down here.
Dinner was good mum and dad loved it, Dad was disappointed they never had German Noodles but he liked the local food they gave him. Me? I had fish treats and a denti stick..YUM.
After dinner we plodded back to camp. Before bedtime we sat out in the warm night listning to music and drinking some nightcaps. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow. The ferry is miles and miles away.
