Poppy goes to Ramsey
Yesterday we left Port Erin and travelled in the pouring rain, we stopped off at Castletown for a plod then Onchan Head to go to a Farmers’ Market. Well they put the comma in the wrong place there was only one stall! It was still chucking it down when we made camp at Laxey. Next day we got up early because we were going to a place called Ramsey at the top of the island. We skirted it in Betsy a few days ago but this time we are going by tram.

The tram came, it’s a noisy thing, screeching, clanking and squealing as it ground to a halt at the station. We hopped onto an open carriage and it pulled out of the station.

Dad? Why are we in an open carriage? The sky cries often on this island.

The tram was not as fast as the train we took to Douglas. It was not as comfy either. The views from the carriage were nicer though and I got use to the clanking and screeching as rounded corners and dragged us up the hills. It passed through some wee villages and huge houses. There must be some rich peoplesees on this island.

As it came to a halt we jumped off. So this is Ramsey then. Ramsey was bigger than Peel had more shops and had a down to earth feel about the place. Mum and dad went to explore the shops. Dad found a second hand record shop, mum went to explore the galleries. Poppys are not fans of galleries. Galleries don’t let Poppys in.

Soon we found the harbour. To get to it you have to cross a huge bridge. Suits me means I get off leash.

We explored further. Joy of joys we came across a huge beach. Even better Poppys were allowed on this one. Finally a chance to run like the wind and dip my paws in the sea.

It was getting on and the sky looked angry. Better get back to the station.

We got on a covered carriage on the way back, much better. When we got off Dad wanted to see the big wheel. OK then what is a big wheel? Well my nose got the better of me. OK dad lets go see this big wheel then. Well. It was a big wheel indeed. A huge big water wheel. Now that’s what you call a wheel of steal ay dad?
Dad was getting a bit miffed at two Indian tourists that were hogging a spot where he wanted to take a photo from. So he put me in front of them. I preferred the other spot personally. I think dad was a wee bit spiteful, probably because he broke his pipe. It wasn’t there fault you broke your pipe Dad.
We finished off the day by going down to Laxey beach. Mum and Dad got a bight to eat, I was miffed because this was another No Poppys Allowed beach. What is it with this island? We headed back to Betsy. A big day tomorrow, were going home.
