Nature Trails and Two Concerts

Up earlyish this morning it was a good looking day the sky was blue and Mr Sun was out to play. What we upto this morning Mum? “We are going to walk to Gullane Poppy”, she said. OK then, is it a long walk? We left the camp and headed down to the village, it looked much prettier in the sunshine.

Leaving Aberlady behind we plodded along the main road east. It was a long straight road. Dad was clever though and we used the cycle lane because there was plenty of shade from the trees. After a while we crossed the road and followed a path to a long footbridge. That’s when I saw a sign, what does it say dad? “No Poppys Allowed” said Dad.

Dad picked me up and carried me across the bridge. On the other side he put me down and we were on our way. It was getting hot and there was not much breeze from the sea. I looked back we had walked for miles.

Dad stopped often to give me nice drinks of water. It was needed. At one of the drink stops you could see all three of the big bridges that take you to Fife.

We had to press on. The path was getting less well trodden. Soon the ferns were above my head a little further they were up to Mum and Dads heads.

We fought through the forest of ferns and came out the other side. Clambering towards lower ground we rounded a big rock and got the first sight of the beach.

Hurry look beach! I lead Mum and Dad down, a few rocks to navigate and my paws were in the sand. Mum and Dad were having some trouble getting down, Dad gave out a curse when water got inside his trainers. When they finally got down I was offski. Ahhhhhh cool water on my paws, bliss.

We were getting hungry and this was the perfect spot for a picnic. Mum had fruit, Dad had a piece n ham, I got ham and carrots. The carrots were rubbish, the sand stuck to them and I wasn’t eating that. I went exploring while mum and dad finished their lunch. I found some rocks to climb so I could get a better view of the coast.

We had a fair distance to go I was getting tired. My wee legs were getting sore, I’m not the pup I use to be and it was so hot. I looked at mum and dad, you try all this walking in a fur coat.

The path up the big hill to Gullane is very steep and at the top the road still goes up. Nice dad picked me up and carried me over the brow of the hill. At this point its all downhill. He put me down and we walked into town in the shade of the trees. When we got there the village was bouncing. There were lots of tents on the village green and even a band playing. They didn’t like it when I joined in though.

We listened to a few tunes and got the bus back to Aberlady. Back at the camp I was absolutely bushed. I’ll just go for a wee snooze outside, OK Mum?

It seems like only a few wags of a pups tail before we were off again. Where we off to now? “North Berwick Poppy” said Dad “We are going in for dinner then going to Fringe by the Sea to listen to a band called Air Poppy” Mmmm as long as we are not walking there. Mum and dad liked dinner. I got some chickens and hamburgers YUM! Time to go to festivals. It was easy to find, just follow the music. When we got there all we had to do was find a place to sit.

After a once round the field we found some seats and a table in the Bordars Biscuits tent. This will do. Mum and Dad were naughty and brought their own daft juice.

A big noise came across the field. Mum and Dad got up and went to find a place where the could get a better listen. They seemed to like what they were hearing. To me it was OK, heard a lot worse coming out of Dads study. After a while it was time to go back to Betsy. We left Fringe by the Sea praying to get a bus back.
