Daft Days 2025

Daft Days 2025

(In Scotland “Daft Days” are the days between Christmas and the New Year)

We jumped in Blue and went to pick up Granma. Blue took us on a long drive all the way to Englandshire. First she stopped at a place called Alnwick. Here we got out and had a bight to eat before rolling on. When she pulled off the big road it was dark. She pulled up beside a wooden lodge in a forrest, “Home for the next few days Poppy” said dad. Mmmm looks OK to me, lots of new smells.

Next day we all got into Blue and were offski. She stopped at a nice wee village called Rothbury. Wandering around the village Mum stopped at a butchers shop and bought lots of goodies. Samosas, Bombay sausage rolls, Cornish pasties and a thing called a balti pie. They all smelled great. Granma was getting hungry. Mum checked out a few places but in the end we plumped for The Vale Café. Runch was great, I got ham, a denti and some of dads bacon YUM.

Granma was tired so we took her back to the lodge but I was still up for adventures. Blue took us to the coast and we stopped at Cresswell. I jumped out of Blue. It was cold. Mmm it’s windy. Sniff, sniff, salty air, Lets go. Hurry up.

The waves were big and the wind of the north sea was bighting. Depite this there were a few brave peoplesees who came out to play.

Freezing cold we escaped the wind, climbed the steps from the beach to visit the village. There is not much to Cresswell, the only living things we met were a bunch of crows.

Time to get back, Mr Sun goes to bed early at this time of the year. Clambering back down the steps to the beach we briskly crossed the beach, everybody else had the same idea. The beach was virtually deserted as we got to the dunes.

When we got back to the Lodge it was dark. Soon we were all comfy and settled in. Daft Mum and Dad got into their swimmys and jumped into the hot tub. Never got the hang of those smelly things.
